As a calligrapher, I am always fascinated by the writing styles of the early Islamic period, and how that early Arabic writing evolved into the beautiful and elaborate calligraphy scripts we practice now.

Islamic calligraphy primarily serves to beautify the word of God, and therefore one of the main sources of inspiration for the calligrapher is the Holy Quran. In this post, we’ll look a little into how the Quran was revealed and first written.
